Section

Prepared every three years, the NSW State of the Environment (SoE) reports on the status of environmental indicators and the pressures that are accelerating the impacts of human activities. It provides an overview of responses to environmental issues.

This report builds on the 2021 SoE report that included Aboriginal voices for the first time, and features a theme, developed by the EPA incorporating Aboriginal perspectives and knowledges for a more holistic view.

In compiling this report, the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) acknowledges that Aboriginal peoples have a spiritual and cultural connection, and an inherent right to protect the land, sky and waterways of NSW. The EPA acknowledges the custodians and honours the ancestors, the Elders both past and present and extends that respect to all Aboriginal peoples.
